SoPoCo

Gregory Betts has been asking me for some SoundPo files, so here's an easy to use Sound Poetry Collection of some of my recordings. Other of yous may be interested too...

a recorded in Minneapolis at Big V's at a show me friend Ron put together a couple summer's back.
Greetings Reading recorded at the Smell a little over a year ago for the LA/NY issue of Greetings magazine - a strange performance that was supposed to be a collaboration with a sound artist - who dropped out on me - so I made a cut up of recordings on a hand held recorder for accompaniment.
No No, No No recorded for my friend Marina to use in her film Dear Alphabet.
Only No also recorded for Marina.
Colab with Sandy Ding for Marina's film - Sandy is also a great filmmaker who has performed at Late Night Snack, several times.
Mysonate recorded at Vermont Studio Center in August 2006 in the church/lecture hall they have there. During the last week of my stay there I practiced then recorded this version of the Ursonate. I'm hoping to record future versions as well, seeing as this was my first attempt at it.
Hugo Ball pieces Seepferdchen und Flugfische and Karawane, also recorded at Vermont Studio Center.
Taken By a remix by d. g. eng of another recording of mine.
Time Ons antoher remix by d. g. eng of yet another previous recording.

A Ridiculous Alphabet also inspired by Marina whose film was originally titled The Ridiculist's Alphabet.

Of course there's more, but that's enough for now...

Will Alexander

Will Alexander, a great poet, novelist, essayist, playwright and friend is very ill. Many writers from Los Angeles and beyond have helped set up a fund to assist him. Donations will go to assist with medical and other expenses as Will undergoes chemotherapy.

Please send donations and maybe a note of support to:
Will Alexander
400 South Lafayette Park Place, #307
Los Angeles, CA 90057

Also, there are some benefit readings coming up. There was one in New York at the Bowery Poetry Club on Nov 1, and there are currently plans for benefit readings in San Francisco and here in Los Angeles at Betalevel and possibly at Beyond Baroque.

If you are unfamiliar with Will's work - here's a link to an interview Stephanie Rioux and I did with Will last summer on LA-Lit: http://la-lit.com/writers/la-lit-13-will-alexander/

Also, you can listen to Will reading an excerpt of his recent novel, Sunrise in Armageddon, published by Spuyten Duyvil.

Thanks to Harold Abramowitz for the photographs.
